Enlisted 27 November 1862 at Onondaga Township, Ingham County, Michigan; he was residing in Onondaga Township prior to his enlistment at 27 years of age; mustered in on 12 December 1862, Company K, Michigan 26th Volunteer Infantry Regiment as a Private; mustered out on 12 May 1864 killed in action along the Ni River at the Battle of Spotsylvania Court House, Spotsylvania County, Virginia.
