Second of three daughters and seventh of eleven children born to Lieutenant Joseph Shaw 1749-1804 and Lydia Shaw 1755-1813.

Granddaughter of Captain Nathaniel Shaw 1717-1800 and Hannah Perkins 1723-1802, Elkanah Shaw 1724-1805 and Elizabeth Atwood 1726-1786. Both Lt Joseph Shaw and Elkanah Shaw have the same great great grand parents: Deacon Jonathan Shaw 1629-1701 and Phebe Watson.

Betsy became the wife of Thomas Savery, Esq., the son of Peleg Savery and Hannah Perkins. They were married 30 Oct 1814 in Carver, MA and had the following children all born in Wareham:

* Elizabeth Shaw Savery 1828-1828
