Gaynell Easterling, 23, resident of Flowood, died Saturday afternoon at University Hospital following an illness of several months. Easterling was a native of Smith County and a former resident of Brandon. He had lived at Flowood for the past seven years. He had served in the U. S. Marine Corps and the Marine Corps Reserve for the past five years. He was a member of Drake Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife; the former Nina Chesteen of Moorhead; his mother, Mrs. Alpha F. Easterling, of Flowood; two brothers Hurston Easterling and Garland I. Easterling, both of Flowood; and five sisters, Mrs. Mattie Katherine Burnham, of Pelahatchie, Mrs. Bessie Lee Trichel, of Monroe, La., Barbara Odeen Easterling, Margaret Ann Easterling, and Shirley Mae Easterling, all of Flowood. The body will be at home in Flowood until 12:45 Monday. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Beulah Baptist church at Polkvile. Rev. Cartis Tucker and Rev. Glenn Morgan will officiate. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
