Miss Chapman was one of the best known residents of Luray and a member of one of the oldest families. She was well known in club and church circles.
She had many friends in the area and her genial and attractive disposition made for her a host of well-wishers and quaintances.
Daughter of the late John N. and Jane Coffman Chapman, she was born in Luray on July 2, 1885 and died at the age of 81.
Prior to her illness she operated a tea room. She was a member of Main Street Baptist Church.
Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Carolyn Chapman Wood, Luray; two nieces and two nephews. One sister and two brothers are deceased.
Interment in Green Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Robert Hudson, Cecil Campbell, Paul Clark, Carroll Beach, John Black and William McKay.
