Tommy Hernandez, Sr. was born on January 1, 1945 in Steeles Store, Texas to Joe and Trinidad Hernandez. Tommy graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in Bryan and went on to attend Allen Military Academy. Tommy was then drafted to the U.S. Army and was deployed in 1967 to Vietnam. He served 2 years overseas and returned to the U.S. in 1969. After returning from the service Tommy worked for Alenco for 2 years and for Moore Business Forms for 3 years. Tommy then went to work for himself for the next 25 years as a flooring installer. In 1999 Tommy began working for Brazos Valley Carpet Outlet as an estimator, where he retired from in 2008.
Tommy is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Frank Hernandez, Sr., Raul Hernandez, Jesse Hernandez, Sr., and Raymond Hernandez; and his sister Esther Garcia.
Survivors include his wife Irene Hernandez of Bryan; Sisters, Mary Ann Esparza and husband Johnny, Betty Acosta and husband Leon, Angelina Garcia, Janie Strickland, Josie Garcia; brother, Joe Hernandez Jr. and wife Rosie; children, Tommy Hernandez, Jr. and wife Heather of Bryan, Mellissa Hernandez, of Bryan, Greg Hernandez and wife Lupe of Kansas City Missouri, Jay Hernandez and wife Jessica, of Bryan, and David Hernandez and Ashley Garcia of Bryan; grandchildren Destiny Fazzino, Gaven Hernandez, Taylor Hernandez, Dominic Hernandez, Averie Hernandez, Reily Hernandez, and Kailee Hernandez; and numerous extended family members and friends.
Tommy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and a friend to many.
