~MY ANCESTOR~
The daughter of John Miles and Anna R. P. (Tarleton) Duvall, she married John Peter Huffaker on Aug. 18, 1802 in Nelson Co., Kentucky. John Huffaker had received a land grant in Pulaski Co. (now Wayne Co., KY) on Beaver Creek where they lived.
After 15 years of marriage and the birth of seven children, John Peter Huffaker filed for divorce from Priscilla Huffaker on July 22, 1818. He testified to the court that last winter while he was away on business, she rode off on his horse, taking with her a large sum of money and valuable property that belonged to him leaving minor children with nobody to take care of them during the cold winter. In addition, she left the state with Joseph Decker whom she is living in open adultery. A neighbor testified that in February of 1818, she saw Mrs.Huffaker & Joseph Decker leaving together and that the children were crying. The divorce was not granted until October of 1827 (nine years later). He soon after married Mary Polly Young.
