Jim "Senior" Clawson – dedicated family man, owner of Kemah Hardware and a longtime resident of Houston's Bay Area -- passed away March 2, 2010. He was 71.

Born January 27, 1939, and reared in Flat, Texas on the Clawson family ranch, Jim attended Baylor University and served in the National Guard, including active duty in 1961 and 1962. He was a dedicated patriot and true Texan. He loved spending time on his ranch, including Christmas visits from his extended family. When not at the ranch, he divided his time between his homes on Galveston Bay and in Acapulco, Mexico. Jim was an avid hunter and passed that same passion down to his children thru a lifetime of family hunting trips. He also enjoyed daily rounds of golf until he was slowed by health issues. Recognized as someone who was always willing to help people in need, Jim enjoyed being at his business for each day's open and close, as well as caring for his local farm and animals.

Jim was preceded in death by his father and mother, Oran and Lillie Whigham Clawson, and by a brother, Oran Clawson Jr. He is survived by his wife, Lavillas Clawson; son Jim Clawson Jr. (wife Susan Clawson); daughter Toni Clawson Randall (husband Randy Randall); grandchildren Jim Clawson (Tres) III and Chandler Randall; sister-in-law Jane Peterson; brother-in-law Pete Peterson; their children, spouses and grandchildren; and a niece, Karen Savage.

Mr. Clawson's funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 5, 2010 at James Crowder Funeral Home Chapel at 851 FM 517 West in Dickinson, Texas. A Masonic graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 6, 2010 at the Restland Cemetery in Gatesville, Texas.
