Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at First Baptist Church of Myrtle Beach. The family received friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at McMillan-Small Funeral Home. The graveside service will be held at 4 p.m., Thursday, June 26, 2008 at Oakwood Cemetery in Statesville, N.C.

He was born Sept. 3, 1922 in Statesville, N.C., a son of the late Lee Columbus Sr. and Nellie Lackey Brown. He was also preceded in death by a son, Timothy Edward Brown; a brother, James Thomas Brown; and a sister, Edna B. Clement.
Mr. Brown was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving in World War II. He was retired from The JC Penny Corporation. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Myrtle Beach, and long time Deacon and Sunday School teacher. He was also a part of the Prison Bible Study Ministry.
Survivors include: his wife; one son, Lee C. Brown III (Susan) of East Longmeadow, Mass.; three sisters, Louise B. Smith of States-ville, N.C., Virginia B. Cowan of Charlotte, N.C., and Doris B. Crawford of Huntersville, N.C.; and seven grandchildren, Kyler, Alyson, Courtney, Kirsten, Christian, Sydney, and Ellen Brown.
