Obe Childress Cook, 24, son of W.A. Cook, passed away here last Wednesday afternoon, January 30, at 12:30 o'clock, following a short illness which resulted in pneumonia.
He was born at Haden, New Mexico on April 3, 1910 and was 24 years , nine months and 27 days old. He moved to this county when he was 20 years of age and has resided here since that time.
He is survived by his father, W.A. Cook of this city; sister, Mrs. H.L. Couch of Childress, Mrs. L.O. Cummings of Wellington, Lula Mae Cook of Wellington; brothers, Jim Cook of Muleshoe; Clifton Cook of Albuquerque, Obe Childress, grandfather; Miss Effie Childress and Miss Zeffie Childress, aunts, of Wellington; Grady Childress, uncle of Palestine, Texas.
Funeral services were held from the Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. C.E. Meredith of Dodsonville and Rev. Joe Hankins of Childress at 2:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon, January 31.
Pallbearers were: Oscar Wells, Orval Couch, Robert Breedlove, Altus May, Oscar Elliott, Webster Longino. Flower girls were: Jo Frances Fain, Dora Elizabeth McClaskey, Aries Burt, Rachel Rainer.
Interment was made in the Wellington Cemetery by Ellis Funeral Home
