P. H. Thomas, 62, a community leader in the Buck Creek Section, died at his home west of town Friday, July, 2. Although mr. Thomas had been in failing health for some time, his death came as a shock to many of his friends here.
A native Texan, Mr. Thomas was born at Paris on February 3, 1881, and at the time of his death he was 62 years, four months and 29 days of age. he was the son of B. F. and Pallie Journey Thomas, both of whom were born in Tennessee. He grew up at Paris, and there on October 21, 1903, he and Mrs. Thomas were married.
Twenty-eight years ago, they moved to this county and had been active in community life since that time. Mr. Thomas was one of the first trustees of the Wilnulcer School district and served in that capacity for many years. He had been a member of the Baptist Church since 1900, and was a deacon in the Friendship Church.
He had taken part in many other enterprises to help build up the community. through his work, and through his friendliness and neighborliness he had many friends.
Immediate survivors are his wife, Mrs. Callie Thomas of Wellington, and three children, Mrs. Bernice Lancaster of Alanreed, Mrs. Pauline Hartman of Wellington, and Mrs. Estelle Ware of Memphis.
Other supervisors are eight grandchildren, and these brothers and sisters: Mrs. Allie Lenoir and Oscar Thomas of Blossom, Mrs. Purnie Jones of Boswell, OK; W. E. Thomas of Wellington; and Marvin Thomas and Arthur Thomas.
