He was born July 4, 1931, in Bracken County, son of the late Nelson Thornton and Mable Dean (Mains) Bruin of Williamstown. He worked for Duff Truck Line in Cincinnati, Ohio as a dock worker, from which he retired. He served his country with the United States Army. He was also a member of the Neave United Methodist Church. He married Mary (Meyer) Bruin, who preceded him in death on October 6, 1980.
Also preceding him in death were two brothers, David and Billy.
He is survived by children, Keith L. Bruin and Karen (Billy) Gordley, both of Brooksville, and Sherry (Freddy) Sticklen of Chesapeake, Va.; two grandchildren, Sabrina Ann Gordley and Jack Vincent Charles Sticklen; a sister, Betty Pugh of Falmouth; and five brothers, Larry Bruin of Covington, Jerry Bruin of Florida, Jimmy Bruin, Gary Bruin and Mike Bruin, all of Falmouth.
Funeral services were Friday, February 28 at Moore & Parker Funeral Home, Brooksville.
Interment was in the Neave Cemetery.
