Washington Township High School in 1926 at the age of 16. He graduated from Waynesboro Business College in 1927. He later furthered his education with Penn State
Extension courses. He and his first wife, Dolores L. (Snurr) Royer. were married in
December 1939 in Waynesboro. They rnoved to Reading in 1974 and she died in 1975. Mr. Royer married Amy (Smith) Hovis-Royer on Oct. 5. 1984 in Moorefield, W.Va. He Lived at his current residence since 1976. He was employed at the Waynesboro Knitting Co. from 1927 to 1964. In 1957, he was promoted to superintendent. In 1964, he began
working for the Flagg-Utica Co.. later named Genesco, as superintendent of the Shoemakersville plant. He was later promoted to vice president. Upon his retirement
from Genesco in 1976, Mr. Royer moved back to Waynesboro. He was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Waynesboro.Mr. Royer was a member of the BPO Elks Lodge 731, Waynesboro, for 50 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Brenda Ann Bredin of Orlando. Fla , a son, Dr. Garfield P. Royer of Cashtown.
Md., eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; a sister. Mildred Spangler of Waynesboro, four brothers, Samuel Royer, Robert Royer, James Royer and Ralph
Royer, all of Waynesboro, and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his first wife, Mr. Royer was preceded in death by a daughter, Jean Kohr, in July 1981, two sisters, and four brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Grove Funeral Home, Waynesboro, with Pastor Richard A Seaks officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill
Cemetery, Waynesboro.
