Funeral services for James C. Ackerd, who died at his home on West Mahoning Street Saturday morning, will be held at the SS. Cosmas and Damian Church, West End, tomorrow (Tuesday) morning at 9 o'clock. Rev.Father John Link will conduct requiem high mass for the deceased.Burial will be at the West End Catholic cemetery.
James C. Ackerd was born in Bedford, Bedford County, 77 years ago, the son of Conrad and Rebecca Ackerd. He came to this city from Crenshaw,where he was engaged in the mercantile business, 18 years ago. He was united in marriage to Miss Margaret Quinlisk. To the union 11 children were born, of whom seven survive, one daughter having died but four months ago. He also leaves 22 grand-children.
A man of high ideals, kindly and considerate, he was generally lovedand esteemed.
He leaves his widow and the following sons and daughters: Mrs. Henry Thomas and Leonard, of Brockway; John, of Los Angeles; Mrs. M.D.Gannon, of El Dorado, Ark., Mrs. J.U. Rowbottom. of Punxsutawney; Bernard and Bernadette, at home. He also leaves two sisters and one brother, Mrs. James Gaffnel, of Houtzdale; Mrs. Anna Carol, of Newport News, Va., and Jacob, of Altoona. 18 April 1925
