Virgil Jefferson Muirhead, 76, of Cleveland passed away Saturday, March 6, 2010 at his home. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. today at Cleveland Church of Christ with Bro. Tim McCarter officiating. Burial followed in North Cleveland Cemetery under the direction of Ray Funeral Home.

Mr. Muirhead was born on Sept. 21, 1933, to Robert Jefferson Muirhead and Clara Taylor Muirhead. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He married Tommie Lee Coleman on Nov. 22, 1952. He was a member of the Cleveland Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Tommie Lee Muirhead of Cleveland; three sons, Tommy Jefferson Muirhead of Flora, Ronald Carol Muirhead of Cleveland and Rufus Taylor Muirhead of Grenada; two daughters, Bernice Muirhead Wilson and Roseann Muirhead Mathis, both of Cleveland; a brother, R.C. Muirhead of Greenwood; three sisters, Clarice Campbell of Coffeeville, Lillian Aldy of Sallis and Elsie Guenther of Helena, Ark.; 17 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were David Muirhead, Jonathan Muirhead, Jeff Muirhead, Joe Mathis, Matt Wilson, Jordan Muirhead and Ron Muirhead.

Honorary pallbearers were Brian Jackson, Tony Aldy and Galen Regan.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
