Services for M. L. "Mack" Barksdale, age 74 of Olla will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, September 10, 2005 from the First Baptist Church in Olla with Rev. Woody Rimes and Rev. Milton Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at 2:00 PM at the Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, Hwy 71, Campti under the direction of Riser Funeral Home of Olla.

Mr. Barksdale was born in Campti on August 28, 1931 to the union of Travis Lawton and Zora Wren Barksdale and died Wednesday, September 7, 2005 at the Hardtner Medical Center in Urania. He was a retired hospital administrator with Hardtner Medical Center in Urania with twenty-seven years of service. He also served on the Board of Directors at Hardtner Medical Center. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served in the Navy. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Olla where he served as an active deacon. He was also an avid golfer.

He was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

Survivors include his wife of forty-nine years: Helen Ivey Barksdale of Olla, his sons and daughters-in-law: Don and Susan Barksdale of Monroe and Dr. Wayne and Mandy Barksdale of Shreveport, his grandchildren: Derek and Sophie of Monroe and Emma, Zach and Hanna of Shreveport, his brother: Aaron Barksdale of Bossier City, his sisters: Myrtis Bamburg of Winnfield, Peggy Sheffield of Decatur, AL, Yvonne Scogin and Margaret Sanders both of Bossier City and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Edward Harris, Bobbie Stott, Blake Sims, Glen Henderson, Jerry Bamburg, Glen Sheffield, Tony Sheffield and Steve Barksdale.

Honorary pallbearers are Walter Allbritton, Lee Breithaupt, Dr. K.P. Mauterer, Ken Durastanti and deacons of First Baptist Church of Olla.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund, Olla or St. Jude's Hospital.

Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM and Saturday from 9:00 AM until time of services at First Baptist Church, Olla.

The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. K.P. Mauterer and staff of Hardtner Medical Center and to Dr. Robert Massingill and staff of Highland Clinic in Shreveport.
