Services have been announced for Alton C. Troxel, who died Thursday in the Mercy Hospital in Gary. Calling hours are from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday at the Lach Funeral Home on 6121 Miller Ave., Gary.
Masonic services will be held at 5 p.m. Friday, and graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Fair Haven Cemetery near Mulberry. Rev. Gerhard Schmidt will officiate.
Mr. Troxel was born on Aug. 19, 1904, at Edna Mills to Daniel J. and Frances Bell Graves Troxel. He married Catherine Osterday, and she survives.
He was a retired general foreman in the Merchant Mill of the U.S. Steel. He was a member of the Mulberry Lodge No. 618 of F&AM. He had been a resident of Gary for the past 40 years.
Other survivors include a son, Timothy Allen Troxel of Highland; a daughter, Mrs. Henry C. (Wendy Kay) Smith of East Gary; a sister, Mrs. Robert (Lucille) Magee of Lafayette and four grandchildren.
