The community was shocked on Saturday evening last to hear of the sudden death of Miss Doras Pickering, only daughter of Mrs. and Mrs. Jas. Pickering, death being attributed to heart failure.

The funeral was held from St. George's Anglican church on Monday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, Rev. H. Tully Montgomery conducting the services in the church and at the graveside. The following friends of the deceased acted as pallbearers: Thos. Morton, Leonard Reeve, Ted Brown, Larry Foster, Reg. Krowchuk and Bert Ebdon.

Early Saturday evening Miss Sybil Lewis called Miss Pickering on the phone and engaged her in conversation. While conversing the door bell at the Pickering home rang and Miss Pickering, being home alone at the time, excused herself to answer it. A moment later Miss Lewis heard a scream, over the phone, and although she endeavored could not get on further word from Miss Pickering. Sensing that something might be wrong she called Mrs. Roberge, a neighbour of the Pickerings and explained to her what had happened. Mrs. Roberge immediately went to the Pickering home and found the door open and Miss Pickering lying on the floor. She called for assistance and when the doctor arrived he declared life to be extinct.

Miss Doras Pickering was born in Edmonton on Nov. 14, 1910, and lived in that city until some three years ago, when she moved to Banff with her parents. She had a side circle of friends here and was a general favorite with all those who had the privilege of her acquaintance, and her passing will be keenly felt among these friends. To Mr. and Mrs. Pickering the community will express a keen sorrow in their bereavement, which came with such a sudden shock.

The following beautiful floral tributes were received: Wreaths from Sebastian family, Edmonton, Bert Ebdon, Confederation Lodge L.O.B.A., Mrs. and Mrs. J. A. Smith, Thos. Morton (Calgary), Friends Around Her, J.C. Dallas, Mr. and Mrs. Allan Green, Mr. and Mrs. Conti, Mrs. Inster, Bert, Tom and Hazel; Len and Ted; Blanche, Jimmy, John and Howard; Uncle John and Mary (Ponoka); Cross from Uncle Bud (Coleman, Alta.) Sprays from the Sewing Circle; the Lewis and Parsons; Larry Foster, Edith and Nell (Edmonton); St. David Girls Club (Edmonton), Mr. And Mrs. Dick Herbertson, Mrs. and Mrs. Unwin and Vera, W.H. Hollingshead and family, Mrs. Rita Bernon, Mrs. J. M. Wardle, Strachan Family, Mrs. and Mrs. J. D. Hansen.
