Mrs. Ayres was born at Hoppertown, now known as West Long Branch, on April 16th, 1816. During her long life of nearly three-quarters of a century, she had only lived in two houses--her father's house in which she was born, and the house at Little Silver to which she removed upon her marriage to Mr. Ayres, more than fifty years. Her marriage was a happy one and resulted in seven children. Three of the children died in infancy. The remaining four, two sons and two daughters, are grown up and happily married.
Mrs. Ayres was never connected with any church, but attended divine service at the Presbyterian church at Shrewsbury. During her long life she was highly esteemed by all her friends and neighbors for her kindly disposition and many charities to the poor and friendless.
Red Bank Register, Wed., June 13, 1888
Lia Hallock owns Ayres family bible of Forman Ayres and Mary Chasey Ayres. The pictures are provided here. They lost several children from an epidemic, if you view the deaths. The children died within days of each other.
