Born 4 Jan. 1846 in Vadilia, Fayette Co. Illinois; died 16 Sept. 1928 and was buried in Creagleville Cemetery in Van Zandt Co. Tx: Mrs. Cynthia Guinn, 82, one of the pioneer citizens of Van Zandt Co., died on the 16th of Sept., in the home of her daughter. mrs. D. B.Carter. Mrs Guinn had been ill for two months. Born near Vadilia, Ill. in 1846 Mrs Guinn came to Texas with her parents, William and Evelyn hubbard. The move was made in her early girlhood and she has since lived in Van Zandt Co. By virtue of approximately 85 years of residence she was one of Van Zandt`s oldest settlers.Some years after her arrival in Van Zandt the then Cynthia hubbard was united in marriage to Hugh Guinn, another old settler who died nineteen years ago. To this marriage, there are four surviving children; Mrs. D. B. Carter who lives in Grand Saline, and three sons; J. H. Guinn of praireville, J. W. Guinn of Myrtle Springs and Eddie V. Guinn of Grand Saline. Four brothers; Cyrus Hubbard, Hendly, Texas, John W. Hubbard of Lufkin, texas, Tom and Dave hubbard of Van Zandt Co.,Texas and one sister, Mrs. Eliza Tuttle of Commerce also survives. In early girlhood, Mrs. guinn joined the Missionary Baptist Church and later after coming to Van Zandt county, affiliated with the denominational old Bethel, in this church she retained her membership until she died and by acts of kindness, mercy and neighborliness gained and held the love and esteem of her friends and neighbors. Funeral services for the deceased were held at Creagleville. Rev. B. C. Dobb, pastor of the First Baptist church having charge. he was assisted in the last rites by Rev. Kidd, pastor of the nazarene church. internment was made in the Creagleville Cemetery.
