He was the fourth child of a family of eight, all deceased, with the exception of one brother, Tilghman Hardin of Miami county.
On January 30, 1868, he was united in marriage to L. C. Humbert. To this union were born five children, two boys and three girls; George, who died in infancy and the surviving members, Mrs. Albert Stewart, , Franklin Hardin, Mrs. Hill Dunn and Mrs. Omer Dunn, who are all well known in this community.
Mr. Hardin was a charter member of the Old New Hope Church, confessing his faith in God at that time under the pastorage of Br. Darst. When the New Hope church disbanded he and his wife united with the Bluff Creek church of which he remained a member until death. Of late years his health prevented him from attending church services but he always manifested a deep interest in its welfare.
His principles and convictions of life were manifested in the life he has lived among us. Let it suffice to say that in his passing the wife has lost a faithful companion, the children a kind and loving father and the community an honorable citizen.
He leaves besides his widow and children, 17 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
