Johann George Bieber born Oct 1698, died June 1775, aged 76 years and eight months; married about 1718 to Margaret. Both buried at Christ Mertz Lutheran Church, Dryville, Pa.
Some accounts of George claim he remained in Chester County when Johannes and Dewalt came to Maxatawny and Rockland townships.
The Beaver family reunion in 1937 had a stone carved over with his name and dates. It was later determined this stone was that of Margaretha Bieber 1765-1770. This was determined with the discovery by this author of another stone two rows away having all the correct dates along with his name.
He had 4 children, sons John, Dieter(Dietrich), Theobald and daughter Margaretha Sell.
George and his two sons, Dewalt and Johannes sailed on the ship "Friendship" from Rotterdam. They arrived in Philadelphia November 2, 1744, from Germany. They first settled in Chester county but soon thereafter came to Berks county. Johannes is buried at this cemetery with George. Dewalt is buried on a farm cemetery 1/2 mile from Peter's Mill near Friedensburg(Oley), Pa. Johannes Jr. served in the Revolutionary war under Gen. George Washington and died at Valley Forge at the age of 55. George's brother Dewalt settled in Maxatawny township.
Many members of this family were organizers of the Christ Lutheran Church in 1747, now called Mertz Church, which was known earlier as Bieber's Church.
