LENOIR - Wanda Younce Spencer, 57, of Lookout Heights Drive, Claremont, died Thursday, June 29, 2006, at Palliative CareCenter and Hospice of Catawba Valley. She was born Aug. 13, 1948, in Caldwell County, to Mrs. Colleen Walker Younce of Hudson and the late Edgar W. Younce. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a sister, Patsy Y. Waters. She was employed by Catawba County Social Services and was a member of King's Creek Baptist Church.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, July 1, 2006, at 11 a.m. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Gary Waters. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 tonight, Friday, at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Todd Leary, Hunter Marquez, Marty Waters, Chris Speagle, Greg Cobb, Matt Wolfarth and Jonathan Anderson. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 6000 Fairview Road, Suite 200, South Atlantic Division, Charlotte, N.C. 28210, or Palliative CareCenter and Hospice of Catawba Valley, 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, N.C. 28658. Greer-McElveen Funeral Home and Crematory will be in charge of arrangements.
