MRS. VIRGINIA BALES

Mrs. Alta Virginia Bales, 84, of
Raven died in a Richlands hospital
early Wednesday morning, Dec 29,
following a long illness.
Born at Swords Creek, she was a
daughter of the late Garland and
Levicia Fletcher Hurt. She had
made her home in Raven for the past
56 years and was a member of the
Assembly of God Church.
She was preceded in death by her
husband, John Floyd Bales.
Survivors are four daughters, Mrs.
Myrtle Kennedy of Raven, Mrs. Alma
Dunaway of Amonate, Va., Mrs. Lona
Allen of Richlands, Mrs. Gladys
Cordill of Portsmouth, Va.; three
sons, Balford Bales and George Bales,
both of Raven, Cecil Bales of Rt. 2,
Cedar Bluff; one sister, Mrs. Emma
Bales of Belfast, Va.; 30 grandchildren,
47 great-grandchildren and one great-
great-grandchild.
Funeral services were conducted
Friday at the Raven Assembly of God
Church with Rev. Dale Holmes, Rev.
Grat Horton, Rev. Carl Robinson and
Rev. Perry Herndon officiating.
Burial was in the Hankins Cemetery in
Richlands.
Grandsons served as pallbearers.
Hurst-Scott Funeral Home was in charge
of arrangements.
