He was born May 2, 1889 in Manitowoc, the son of the late Peter and Frances (Brandl) Kaufman.
On June 30, 1915 Edward was united in marriage to Nellie Ringstad in Wausau. She survives.
In addition to his wife, survivors include, nine children, Mervil (Minnie) Kaufman, Merna (Arthur) Carlson, Nadine (Glenn) Fischer, Margie (Wallace) Wolff, Carol (Melvin) Discher, Roger Kaufman, Peter Kaufman, Patricia (Leroy) Carlson and Phyllis (Gary) Meidl; 35 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lorraine McDonald and Ella Diedrich.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
Funeral services were held December 11, 1970 at Schmidt Funeral Home, Wittenberg. The Rev. Richard Borchers officiated. Interment was in Forest Home Cemetery, Wittenberg.
