Graveside services will be at Birch Hill Cemetery in Fairbanks in June. Mrs. Adams was born July 28, 1917, in Quitman, Ark., to Robert and Susan Flowers. She attended school unil 10th grade, then worked in the cotton fields to help her family. She later moved to Pontiac, Mich., to live with her brother John Forest and his family, and she met and married Carl Adams.
They moved in 1945 to Los Angeles and in 1948 to Oregon.
In 1952, they moved to Klamath Falls and she worked with her husband delivering newspapers for the Herald and News unitl they moved to Olivehurst, Calif., in 1962.
They divorced in 1964.
Mrs. Adams moved to Alaska in May 1989 to live with her daughter and son-in-law Eva and James Roddick.
While living in Eagle River, Alaska, she was a Chugiak senior companion in the Chugiak Senior Day Care Center. She moved to Wasilla, Alaska, in 1992, remaining active in senior activities at Morningstar Day Care Center in Palmer, Alaska. In 1997, she moved with her daughter and son-in-law to Fairbanks.
Mrs. Adams was known for her love of singing. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing and bowling. She was raised in Methodist Church and later joined the Lutheran Church before joining the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1952. She continued to be active and faithful in the church until her death. She also served as a primary teacher for some of her grandchildren.
Survivors include her sons, Raymond Adams of Rio Linda, Calif., Emerson "Jerry" Adams of Sterling Heights, Mich., and Charles Adams of Medford; daughters, Alice Lester of Concord, Calif., and Eva Roddick of North Pole, Alaska; and 19 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Gladys Cargile, Mavis Stapleton, Mary Johnson, Sylva Sudberry, Mary Johnson, Essie Flowers, Lucille Smith, Eva Lee Holland and Floy Flowers; brothers, William and Earl Brdiges, Victor and Clive Flowers and John Forest; daughters, Carlene Wilson and Charlotte Adams.
