NOTES:
• Birth location: his parents were living in Union Co., Ohio in 1826 when Daniel was born. Daniel's father was born there, the couple were married there and they lived there until the mid-1850s, so it's reasonable to assume he was born there.
• Death location: 1885 Iowa State Census puts Daniel in Palo Alto, Jasper Co., Iowa. Without a death certificate, it seems reasonable to assume that he died in Jasper Co., given he had made that area his home since at least 1870 and his wife continued to live there as she is found there in the 1900 census.

*Unable to locate a Find A Grave memorial or death information for Daniel's mother, Philena Rice. She married William Bishop in 1863 and he died in 1874. She is last seen in a VR in the 1885 Iowa State Census where she was living Northern Iowa, in the Philander & Harriet Baldwin home, Lincoln township, Mitchell Co., Iowa.
