November 30, 1973, at Hurley
Hospital. Funeral services will
be held at 3:30 p.m. Monday,
December 3, 1973, at the Reigle
Funeral Home, Colonial
Chapel, 2417 S. Saginaw St.,
Pastor Lester Gray officiating.
Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
Mr. Samples will lie in state at
the Funeral Home. Mr.
Samples was born in Dunklin
County, Missouri, June 23,
1907. He was a retired member
of the UAW Local No. 1292, and
he had been employed as a
Millwright at Fisher Body,
Grand Blanc, until his re-
tirement, August 1, 1973. Sur-
viving are: wife, Bertha M.
Samples of Flint; 2 sons,
Charles of Omer, and David G.
of Flint; 2 daughters, Mrs.
Jeanie Swafford of George-
town, Indiana, and Mrs. Gary
(Sylvia) Chailland of Flint; 9
grandchildren; 2 sisters, Esther
Campbell of Flint; and Allie B.
McGrath of Flint, 1 brother,
Connie B. Samples, of Flint; 5 half-
sisters, Mary Potter of Flint,
Anna Bell, Hellen Glenn, Melis-
sa Samples, and Louise
Province, all of Missouri; half-
brother, Bill James of Missouri.

Herb had two sisters, Hester aka Ester Samples (Campbell)
Dolly Samples (Haynes) and one brother Clarence aka Doc.
These children are by William aka Bill Thomas Samples and his 1st wife Elizabeth Barden.
Now Herb has a half sister Allie B. and a half brother Connie B.
The rest are step brothers and sisters and they are
Mary Potter of Flint, Anna Greenway (Bell), Helen James (Birchfield/Whaler/Glenn) Melissa Samples, and Louise Province all of Missouri and one step brother Bill James of Missouri. These are Rency Casey (James) children by 1st marriage.
