LAY

Pearl Elizabeth Lay, the daughter of Michael and Mary Elizabeth Young Oswalt, was born January 16, 1893 in Jasper County, Iowa and passed away on June 2, 1985 at the Lucas County Memorial Hospital in Chariton, Iowa at the age of 92 years.

She was baptized into the Baptist Church at the age of 19.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roscoe Lay; a daughter by a previous marriage, Thelma Miletich; her parents; three sisters and five brothers.

She leaves to mourn her passing one daughter, Juanita Merrill; and five grandchildren, Jack Miletich of Davenport, Jerry Miletich of Sigourney, Mary Foust of McCarney, Texas, Jim Merrill of Chariton and Ed Merrill of Rockford, Illinois; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; along with other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 5, 1985 at the Mosher Funeral Home in Chariton. The service was conducted by Rev. Ronald Stein. Burial was in the Chariton Cemetery.
