CHARLES LEVI OSWALT

Charles Levi Oswalt, son of Michael W. and Mary E. Oswalt, was born Jan. 7, 1890 in Marion county, Iowa, and passed away at his home in Chicago, Ill., Oct. 8, 1956 at the age of 66 years, nine months and one day.

He worked in Chariton in the coal mines for many years, then moved to Chicago in 1942 where he resided until his death. He was a kind and loving husband and father and always ready to help a friend.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, three brothers and one grandson.

He leaves to mourn his death, his wife, sons, Max of Ankeny, Charles Jr. of Chariton, Melvin, Marvin and George of Chicago, two daughters, Mrs. Theda Gerkey of Chariton and Mrs. Thelma Logar of Chicago, eighteen grandchildren, two brothers, Lew Oswalt of Princeton, Mo. and Harold Oswalt of Portland, Ore., three sisters, Mrs. John Ballard of Melrose, Mrs. George Brown of Portland, Ore. and Mrs. Roscoe Lay of Chariton, and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held at the Beardsley Funeral Home Oct. 11. The Rev. Lester Hall officiated. Interment was in the Chariton cemetery.
