Hazel Pearl (Miller) Vance was born March 13, 1925, in Murray, Nebraska to George and Marjorie (Robbins) Miller the 5th of 9 children and went to her heavenly home on Monday, April 5, 2010 in Lincoln at the age of 85 years and 23 days.

She worked behind the soda fountain at the drug store in Plattsmouth where she met Joe. Hazel later married Joseph L. Vance, Sr. on August 15, 1942, in Rockport, Missouri and to this union two boys and two girls were born, Joseph Jr., Jean, Dorothy and Thomas.

Upon Joe's discharge from the Navy, they returned to Nebraska and lived in the communities of Plattsmouth, Fairbury, Hebron, and Murray before moving to Pleasant Dale in 1954. Hazel was a busy mother raising her children and keeping up with the school and extra-curricular activities. She worked at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Gold's Department Store, the Lincoln Regional Center, all in Lincoln and the Pleasant Dale Public School. Later, Hazel kept very busy baking, especially wedding, anniversary and birthday cakes for friends and family. Following Joe's retirement, Hazel and Joe enjoyed traveling to California and Arizona. They also had lots of fun square dancing and playing cards. Recently Hazel moved to Linden Village in Milford.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and American Legion Auxiliary Unit #354, all of Pleasant Dale, and the Cornhusker Country Music Club, Louisville.
