Johannes was the son of Isak Pehrsson and Sara Sophia Isaksdotter.
He had three siblings: Pehr August, Johanna Alexandra, and Sara Christina.
Johannes married Anna Maria Olofsdotter on June 23, 1873.
They were the parents of nine children: Johan Frithiof, Maria Josefina, Tekla Karolina, Hilma Sofia, Edla Augusta, Ferdinand Valdemar, Gerda Viktoria, Henny Agvilina, and Ida Theresia.

The Leonard community was in mourning Wednesday when the news reached the village that Mr. Isackson had passed away at his home east of town. He had been in poor health for some time and about a month ago medical attention and he was taken to the Lutheran hospital at Warren where he remained until a week before his death when he asked that he might be taken home to spend Christmas with hie family. Mr. Isackson was born in Sweden in 1851 and came with his family to Leonard in 1903 and settled on his farm east of town where they have since resided. At his death he was 74 years and 9 months of age. He leaves to mourn his death his wife and two sons and five daughters. They are : John and F. W. Isackson, Mrs. Gust Robert and Oscar Lundmark, Mrs. Hennie Frederick and Mrs. Ida Strum. One daughter passed away two years ago. Several grandchildren and a host of friends mourn his loss. Rev. Solomonson of Clearbrook officiated at the funeral assisted by a choir of mixed voices from the community. He was laid to rest in the cemetery north of town. The family wishes to extend a vote of thanks to all those who so kindly assisted them on this, their hour of bereavement, also for the flowers given by the ladies aid and other friends.
