March 2, 1922
Nevada, Missouri

Mrs. Lula Clark Thurman, wife of Circuit Judge Berry G. Thurman, died on Thursday, February 23rd, in a hospital at Oklahoma City, from bronchial pneumonia, after an illness of only twelve hours. Mrs. Thurman had been in poor health for some time, and had been taking the rest cure in the hospital, but had improved and gone to the home of her daughter, Mrs. T.E. Braniff, in Oklahoma City, a few days before her death. The remains were brought to the family home in Nevada [Missouri), and funeral services were held there on Friday. Interment was made in the family lot in Greenfield cemetery on Saturday afternoon, attended by a large crowd of relatives and old friends of this city and other places, the floral tributes being profuse and most beautiful. Judge Thurman was completely prostrated by the shock, and was unable to come here for the burial. Mrs. Thurman was sixty years of age, and was a native of Dade county, the daughter of the late Sampson Clark of this city. She leaves her husband, a son and daughter, Judge Hal Thurman and Mrs. Braniff, both of Oklahoma City; also her mother, who made her home with her, one brother, Charles Clark of Nevada, and five sisters, Mrs. E.P. Mann of Springfield, Mrs. H.W. Timmonds of Lamar, Mrs. C.D. Allee of Arizona, Mrs. Mary Jacobs of Kansas City and Mrs. Alice Downing of California. Among the out-of-town relatives attending the burial were Mrs. and Mrs. E.P. Mann, Mrs. and Mrs. John McGregor, Mrs. and Mrs. J.R. Tarrant and Frank Mann, all of Springfield; Mrs. and Mrs. Harry Timmonds of Lamar, Mrs. and Mrs. T.E. Braniff and Judge Hal C. Thurman of Oklahoma City, Mrs. Anna Jacobs of Kansas City and Charles Clark of Nevada.
