His parents were THOMAS HAYES, b. 1740, Salem (now Lewisboro), Westchester County, NY, d. 1790, and, ELIZABETH BENEDICT, b. c. 1741, Norwalk, Fairfield County, CT, d. 23 Nov, 1827, Woodbury, Litchfield County, CT.

Ruth and Uriah were married 07 Oct, 1811, Brookfield, Fairfield County, CT. To this union, 8 children were born: HOMER LOCKWOOD HAYES, POLLY, HANFORD NICHOLS HAYES, WILLIAM HAYES, SUSAN, ELI DENISON HAYES, JANE ELIZABETH, and, CHARLES HAYES.

Note: Every source I have seen while researching Ruth Lockwood Hayes has her birth date as 12 Dec, 1791 and her death date as 14 May, 1845. Yet, the grave marker for her and her husband Uriah Hayes says she died 14 May, 1854, in her 34 year. A conundrum.

Note: changed Ruth's death date to 1854. A conundrum no longer.
