Mr. Carl Metcalf, 91, of Spartanburg, passed away Thursday, April 8, 2010. A native of Cliftonville, WV, he was the widow of June Peel and the son of the late William Metcalf and Lida Budget. He retired from Union Camp, and was a United States Army Veteran of World War II, and was a member of Gravley Memorial United Methodist Church.
He is survived by one son, Edward Metcalf (Sherrie) of Inman; one step-son Kenneth Peel (Sue) of Glendale, AR; four granddaughters, Jennifer Hood (Jimmy) of Cooley Springs, Jody Childers (Tim) of Gaffney, Kelly Knox of Kansas, and Kim Banks (Willie) of Kansas; seven great-grandchildren, sixteen great-great-grandchildren; and special friends Mr. and Mrs. James Holcombe. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 3:45 PM Saturday, April 10, 2010 at Eggers Funeral Home of Chesnee with the Rev. Scott Gilmer and Rev. Ed Traxler officiating. Interment in Springhill Memorial Gardens.
