Karen A. Gilfoy

Funeral services for Karen A. Gilfoy, 60, of Jackson were held on Thursday, January 12 at 2:00 pm. at Northminster Baptist Church in Jackson. Officiating ministers were Dr. John Claypool, Dr. Roger Paynter and Rev. Danny Rutland. Burial was in Lakewood Memorial Park with Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Miss Gilfoy died of heart failure on Monday, January 9 at her home. She was a former school teacher; head of the criminal division of the State Attorney General’s office, and for13 years was Senior County Court Judge and Youth Court Judge for Hinds County. She retired on January 1, 1995.

She was a member and former choir director of Northminster Baptist Church and was active in musical and theatrical circles.

Judge Gilfoy spent her entire life serving others.

Survivors include: her mother, Mrs. J. R. Gilfoy, Sr. of Jackson; sister, Melinda Bennett of Corinth; and brother, Bob Gilfoy of Lexington.
