Last Services Held For Mrs. Meriwether
Mrs. Elizabeth Bullock Meriwether, a native of Bullock County and member of a pioneer Alabama family, died Friday in Vicksburg, Miss., and funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at Elmwood in Birmingham. She was the widow of Benjamin Baldwin Meriwether, whose ancestors were the first white people to settle in Mt. Meigs, south of Montgomery. They resided for many years in Birmingham before returning to the plantation at Mt. Meigs.
She was the grandmother of Taylor Meriwether Smith, Jr., of Anniston, and Benjamin Baldwin Meriwether Smith, formerly of Anniston and now residing in Baytown, Tex.
Bullock County was named for Mrs. Meriwether’s family.
