Asa Bigelow, son of Jabez and Deborah Knowlton Bigelow, was born August 19, 1779 at Westminster, Worcester County, Massachusetts. He married first in April 1801, Sally Puffer, daughter of Josiah and Mary Meade Puffer. She was born in May 1780 and died October 5, 1811, age 31 years. Asa then married Nancy Bartlett, of New Braintree. Their intentions were published on August 28, 1812. She died on March 19, 1815, aged 29 years. Asa married for the third time Mrs. Lucinda (Field) Heywood, who was born January 26, 1772, and died on January 16, 1849. Asa died four years before her, on June 2, 1845, at Westminster.
Asa is buried in the Woodside Cemetery in Westminster. His gravestone reads: “Col. Asa Bigelow died June 2, 1845, aged 66 years.”
