Services for Oscar Simms Martin, 88, were held Friday in Pleasant Union Baptist Church, directed by Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel.

Mr. Martin died Feb. 16 in Conway Hospital following an illness. Born in Aynor, he was a son of the late Morgan Gasque and Martha Martin. He was a member of Pleasant Union Baptist where he served as a deacon for more than 30 years and remained an honorary deacon until his death. Surviving are his wife, Mattie Rabon Martin of Aynor; a son and daughter-inlaw, Nathan Martin Jr. and Edna B. Martin of Aynor; five stepsons and their step daughters-in-law, Billy and Alene Rabon of Charleston, Kenneth and Reba Rabon of Conway, Grady and Margaret Rabon and Earl and Lila Rabon of Aynor, and Charlie and Linda Rabon of Lexington; two step-daughters and stepsons-in-law, Mary and Ragsdale Allsbrook of Aynor and Betty and Jimmy Hardwick of Conway; a sister, Lindsey Gasque of Aynor; five grandchildren, 18 stepgrandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, 22
step-great-grandchildren and a stepgreat-great-grandchild.
