He was born and raised in Westminster Township, Middlesex County in Ontario being the fifth of 12 children of William Schram (1790-1865), veteran of the War of 1812 at Niagara Falls, and Harriet Kilborn (1795-1866) of the Delaware Twp. family in Middlesex County, Ontario.
On Sept. 6, 1846 he married Louisa Ashwell (1824-1894). Tim and his eldest son, Galbraith, went to Crystal City, Manitoba about 1879. After building a dwelling his wife and some of the family followed. However after a year or so they sold and moved across the border to Walhalla, ND to be closer to a railroad and better markets.
