She married Antony Zielinski in Odessa, Russia. Famiy tradition revealed that Antony, an accomplished violin maker and musician, had his own orchestra and was hired to play at Matrona's debut and that is how they met.

Family members are unsure of the correct spelling of Matrona's maiden name: SAFCHENKO, SAFCZENKO, SHEVCHENKO,
SAWCHENCO, PACHENCO OR PACHENKO. Family photograph showed name as Sawchenco, so until we can prove otherwise, it will remain Sawchenco.
Her sons and daughters loved and respected her.
She died of diabetes with multiple abraisons of skin, duration of 10 years. Chronic myocarditis was a contributing condition.
She requested to be interred alone. Her grave stone reads: Beloved Mother, 1875 - 1934 Rest in Peace.
