He was retired from B.F. Goodrich with 30 years of service. He served in the U.S. Army in Burma and India during World War II. Prior to the war, he worked as a chauffeur in Los Angeles.
Myat was a farmer his entire life. His hobby and passion was his corn and bean fields. He was a longtime member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude and 10 brothers and sisters. Surviving are his son, Walter Mathew (Denise) of Michigan; daughter, Lora; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sister, Dollye Lindsay of Ocean Springs, Miss. Feline companions Rimi, Butter, and Pippin will miss him, too.
