He was born at Belgrade, Aug. 10, 1883, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Cowan.
In 1906 he married Hattie Sales at Belgrade. They lived on a ranch near Gallatin Gateway until 1920 when they moved to Bozeman.
He was a city employee and a member of the Baptist Church.
Cowan is survived by his wife Hattie; two sons Lee Cowan and Fred Cowan of Portland, Ore.; one daughter, Mrs. Ivan (Idella) Ward of star route, Bozeman; two brothers Tom Cowan of Belgrade and Mark Cowan of Livingston; two sisters, Mrs. Walter Krider of Hayden, Idaho, and Mrs. Nora Weaver of Belgrade and two granddaughters.
Funeral arrangements are pending at the Dokken, Nelson and Kippen Funeral Home.
