ANDERSON — Stephen R. Nemyer, 62, Anderson, died April 12, 2010, at Community Hospital, after a brief illness.

He was born May 11, 1947 in Anderson, and was a lifelong resident.

Steve retired from the United States Army, where he served as Sgt. Major during the Vietnam War, earning two Purple Hearts.

He was a member of VFW Post #266 and the Redman's Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, whom he married June, 29, 1992, . . ..

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willis R. and Beatrice (Critser) Nemyer; and first wife, Emma (Ferguson) Nemyer in 1992.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home's south chapel.

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Robert D. Loose Funeral Home, South Chapel, 200 W. 53rd St. Anderson, with Pastor Don Billey officiating.

Burial will be in East Maplewood Cemetery, Anderson, at 10 a.m. Saturday with military rites by the VFW 266 .

Memorial contributions may be made to the VFW 266 Honor Guard.
