Clifford was born in Carson Valley, son of the late Fred and Jessie (Snyder) Mitchell. He married the former Ellen M. Brubaker of Carson Valley on May 30, 1942, in Geeseytown.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years and four children: Sally Young and husband, Cloyd E., of Gallatin, Tenn., Virginia Beyer and husband, Frederick, of West Seneca, N.Y.; Eileen Focht and husband, Dennis R., of Duncansville and Mark Mitchell of Duncansville; 15 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers: Dean, Clair and Charles; and a grandson, Ashley C. Focht.
He graduated from Hollidaysburg High School in 1939.
Clifford was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was a 1959 graduate of the Altoona Bible Institute.
Clifford was a former Allegheny Township supervisor, and for many years he was a dairy farmer.
In 1979, he retired from Conrail as a shipper receiver.
He believed nature was the handiwork of God and loved music, especially hymns.
He enjoyed the outdoors, traveling, camping, boating and fishing. He will be sadly missed by family and friends.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sorge Funeral Home, Hollidaysburg. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home by son-in-laws the Rev. Frederick J. Beyer and the Rev. Cloyd E. Young. Interment at Carson Valley Cemetery.
