"Mrs. Rose "Walker" Cratty, a resident of the Welch Nursing Home in Chetopa, will be 100 years old on Sunday, June 1, 1975.
Rose Cratty was born June 1, 1875 in Cole County, Illinois. She moved to Edna, Kansas when a small child and attended school at Edna.
Her first job at the age of 15 was in Kansas City, Kas., for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. She later worked at the First National Bank of Edna; as a weighing clerk at the elevator, and in a Dry Goods Store in Edna.
Rose lived with her mother untilher mother died. In 1925 at the age of 50, she married James H. Cratty. Mr. Cratty died in 1946. Mrs. Cratty came to the Welch Nursing Home the first time in 1959.
Mrs. Cratty has outlived all of her eight relatives with the exception of one niece. She has many friends, some of whom do call on her at the Nursing Home."
