Norman Lee Morgan, of Texas City, went home to Jesus on Monday, March 1, 2010, at his home in Texas City, following a short battle with cancer. He was 75.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, March 4, 2010 at the Thornton Cemetery, with Pastor Randy Arfele of the Assembly of God, Thornton, officiating.
Norman was born June 26, 1934, at Thornton, to Jasper Morgan and Naomi (Lamson) Morgan. He attended school awhile in Thornton until the family moved to Houston. After he finished school in Houston, he married Janet Goddard in 1959 and they made their home in Houston. He served in the U.S. Army from August 1959 through August 1961, and was stationed in Ft. Eustis, Virginia; and also served in the Reserves from 1963 through 1965. After the military, Norman went to work for Sears Roebuck and Company. He later moved to Texas City, and married Margaret Mills in 1971, and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Texas City. When he retired from Sears, he started a new career with Quality Beverage Co., on the Texas City route, for twenty more years. Norman worked all his life. After retiring from that job, he worked as a security guard for Delphi until 2000.
He enjoyed motorcycles, being the charter member and President of the Bengal's Motorcycle Club of League City in 1976. In addition to working, he loved camping and took his family often. He was a football fan and a really big fan of the Houston Texans. He loved playing with his grandchildren and in general entertaining the family by "making trouble."
Norman was preceded in death by his parents, baby sisters Grace Morgan and Bernice Morgan, brother Lester Morgan in 1975, and brother, Joe Morgan in 1994.
He is survived by a son, Mark Morgan and wife Becky of Riesel; daughter, Tracey Howell and husband Walter of Groesbeck; daughter, Tina Simmons and husband Johnny of Sante Fe, TX; son, Trent Morgan and wife Michelle of Texas City; ten grandchildren: Josh Little and Jessica Little of Groesbeck, Michael Martin and Eric Martin of Sante Fe, Madie Morgan of Texas City, Michelle Henkle of Temple, Terry Buck of Riesel, James Eston of Alvin, Jason Howell of Robinson, and Tori Armstrong of Beaumont; sixteen great grandchildren; and two sisters, Gertrude Whatley of Houston and Dorothy Fagg of Houston.
