OBITUARY :
JOSEPHINE E. "JOE" SHINDLEDECKER, 88, of Royer Road, Cascade, died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2001, in Asbury Methodist Home, Gaithersburg, Md.

Born June 23, 1913, in Pleasant Valley near Smithsburg, she was the daughter of the late Edward Paul and Elsie Mane (Bowman) Recker.

Her husband, John G. "Pete" Shindledecker, died in 1988.

She was employed by Claire Frock, Thurmont.

Mrs. Shindledecker is survived by one daughter, Connie Moyer of Clarksburg, Md.; one brother, Ted Recker of Pleasant Valley; six grandsons; 14 great­-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg, with Pastor Paul Tobias officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery, Cascade.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to services Thursday in the funeral home.
