Carrie M. Benchoff, 89, of Comanche Drive, died Sunday, March 30, 1997, at Williamsport Nursing Home.

Born Jan. 2, 1908, in Pleasant Valley near Smithsburg, she was the daughter of the late Edward P. and Elsie M. Bowman Recker.
Her husband, Lauran H. Brickey Benchoff, died in 1983.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Smithsburg.
She also was a member of Sunshine Leisure Club in Smithsburg; and AARP.
She is survived by one daughter, Patricia A. Powles of Mount Lake Park, Md.; one son, John R. Benchoff of Hagerstown; one sister, Josephine E. Shindledecker of Michaux Manor, Fayetteville, Pa.; one brother, Edward J. "Teddy" Recker of Smithsburg; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Beulah I. Recker, Charlotte G. Cross and Marie H. Peiffer.
Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Davis Funeral Home in Smithsburg. The Rev. Richard Hembrock will officiate. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery in Cascade.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
