George W. Jones, senior member of the firm of Jones & Debow, proprietors of the Hunt City Mills, was b. in Johnson Co, Ind. in 1831, and is the third son of Abraham and Mary Parr Jones, natives respectively of Virginia and Tennessee. Mr. Jones was educated at Greenwood, Ind. He taught school for ten winters, and managed a saw-mill for five years. He is a member of the Baptist Church, was for four years Justice of the Peace, and has held other township offices. He is a Democrat and one of Willow Hill's best citizens. July 11, 1851, he married Rachel Stretcher, a native of Ohio. Their family consists of seven children, viz: John E, Silman, Tilman W., William, Otis, Allen and Lillie.

George W Jones, for many years an honored citizen of this county, residing in Willow Hill township, departed this life on last Friday from dropsy, aged 56 years. He served in several important offices and was a man universally respected for his many excellent qualities. In his early life, Mr. Jones was a teacher, later a farmer and miller. He was a leading member of the Baptist Church up to the date of his death. A wife and several children mourn the death of a most exemplary citizen.
