Obituary in Sheridan News, Sheridan IN, March 8, 1912: Barnabas McKinzie, aged 89 years, and the oldest inhabitant of the immediate vicinity, died at his home on West 4th St., Sheridan, Sunday just after noon, of pneumonia. He had been sick only since Wednesday of last week when he contracted a cold which didn't show any alarming effects until Friday. He was also a member of the Grand Army of the Republic and took great interest in GAR work. He was twice married. To the first union, 5 sons and 1 daughter were born of which 4 sons became Methodist ministers. The children are all living except a son. The daughter, Mrs. Davenport, resides in Zionsville, one son in Washington; 2 sons in Kan. and 1 son Rev. William is financial Sec'ty of the Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
